Placing a telephone call will soon be as easing as clicking on a web link thanks to new South Australian technology being developed with the help of a $64,000 Australian Government innovation grant.

Federal Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane today announced Adelaide-based Pep Talk International had received the Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) funding as part of an innovation funding round worth $192,000 to three South Australian projects.

Nationally, more than $5.9 million was today announced for 27 Australian projects under the COMET and Commercial Ready innovation programs.

"Pep Talk's patented technology can convert any phone number displayed on an email or web page into a click-dial link, allowing internet users to place a call over mobile, landline and Voice over Internet Protocol networks at the click of a mouse," Mr Macfarlane said.

"Unlike other click-dial services, which require the phone number to be pre-converted in the directory, Pep Talk's technology converts all displayed phone numbers 'on-the-fly' when the user is viewing a website, email or directory."

"It's a convenient, time-saving system - not to mention another good example of new Australian technology being brought to the marketplace with the help of Federal Government innovation funding," he said.

Pep Talk will use its COMET funding for business planning, market research, intellectual property and working prototype activities.
